In the Bear’s Den: Part One: Protector

It was all a huge mix-up. I was supposed to be starting over, leaving the pain of my past behind me, in a new town, with a new job and a new house. I didn’t think that the new house was going to come with a struggling single mom of two who had no idea that her ex had stopped paying rent and the landlord thought she was gone...

And now that I’m living with her, she’s waking up a part of me I thought I’d never feel again: my bear, the animal inside me that wants a mate. Wants her to be my mate, and doesn’t care that we’re practically strangers, in the strangest living arrangement imaginable.

Getting to know her just makes everything more complicated, especially the part about how I’m a bear shifter, and I don’t think I can tell her.

But when her ex starts making threats, my protective side kicks in hard, and I might not be able to control the beast inside me anymore...
